Since August, the three young entrepreneurs and members of the network, Startup Central, Nicklas Stokholm, Christian Ørum and Kevin Jensen, from Herningsholm Erhvervsgymnasium, have been working on their idea, Bubbles – a communication system for children with special needs with a focus on learning. On Wednesday, April 22, they could call themselves Danish champions in Entrepreneurship.
On 22 April, the young fellow students, Nicklas Stokholm, Christian Ørum and Kevin Jensen, won the Danish Championship in Entrepreneurship – Company Programme. "It's really cool! To have a company at the age of 18, and even with a product that we know helps children with concentration problems to do better in school, is really cool,” Nicklas Stokholm tells Startup Central.
Together, the three entrepreneurs have created the communication system, Bubbles, for children with special needs and difficulty concentrating, eg ADHD or similar. "The idea arose because Christian's little sister has ADHD, and he has experienced how difficult it can be for her to concentrate on her schoolwork. Christian has long had a desire to help his little sister, and then the ideas rolled from there," says Nicklas. Bubbles connects the teacher and the student in a noise-free communication channel, where the headphones eliminate the noise around the student. In this way, the student can only hear the teacher without outside noise, and they have ample opportunity to concentrate on their school work.
Nicklas mentions that they have already received a good response from users, which is why they have also chosen to publish a free trial period of 14 days. "Our product can be difficult to convey via email or telephone. Therefore, it is important to us that users have the opportunity to sit with and experience the entire product.”
But entrepreneurial dreams are not always a bed of roses - even if you have just won the Danish Entrepreneurship Championships. The boys are experiencing challenges with the distribution of their product, but the solution seems to be just on the horizon.
"Yes, the spread of the product is probably the biggest challenge we have in front of us right now. That is why we were also part of Denmark's Learning Festival, which was held between 4 and 5 March. There were a total of 7,300, so it gave us a good opportunity to promote our product and network," explains Nicklas.
The most important thing for the three entrepreneurs has been the network: "As an 18-year-old with limited knowledge of entrepreneurship and company work, the network and sparring with other entrepreneurs have been essential to expand our knowledge," states Nicklas.
The three fellow students have already made plans for the future, and the further development of the product itself: "Although it is a little early in the process, we are already thinking about how we can improve our product even more and how we can optimize it. In addition, we have thoughts about extending the communication system to, for example, psychiatry," concludes Nicklas.
The Danish Championship in Entrepreneurship is an event where students from secondary education learn to transform an idea into a product, and test life as an entrepreneur.
